Supervisory Personal Assistant
Reports to: Registered Manager
Statement of Duties
- To work as a senior team member in partnership with the Registered Manager and Senior Carers to ensure safe and consistent delivery of care services at Purbeck Personal Assistants
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist Registered Manager and Recruitment Assistant with interviewing, selecting and inducting new Care Workers
- To provide shadowing for new Care Workers and report to the Registered Manager and Care Co-ordinator when new Care Workers will be ready to work alone
- To work with the Registered Manager and Care Co-ordinator to identify the most suitable Care Workers for each client and to plan ahead to cover holidays, training and planned absence
- Ensure staff are supervised and spot checks and professional compliances are evidenced.
- Ensure staff are following best practice in Medication, Manual Handling, Mental Capacity, and Infection control practice.
- Complete new client assessments and manage reviews and risk assessments as part of the senior team
- To carry out service user reviews as required by the National Minimum Standards for Domiciliary Care including annual reassessment including Local Authority reviews and to follow up any key actions
- To encourage service users to remain as independent as possible and reflecting this in their individual person centred care plan.
- To work with clients, in co-operation with other staff and agencies, on the development and implementation of individual client person centred care plans.
- Assist with client bookings to support Care co-ordinator to ensure safe cover of all visits
- To take part in senior on-call rota to support service safety and coordination.
- Supporting safe service delivery when cover for clients’ calls is required, including short notice cover
- To assist people, advocate on their behalf and to maintain their rights and responsibilities in receiving services that will support them in achieving them desired outcomes as detailed in their care plans.
- To attend meetings with other staff, management, and other relevant agencies.
- To attend/chair team meetings to engage in the exchange of information and communication internally and externally to meet identified needs and foster professional development.
- To assist service users who need help with getting up in the morning, dressing, undressing, washing, bathing and toileting.
- To help service users with mobility issues and other physical disabilities, including continence support and help in use of care of aids and personal equipment.
- To help care for service users who are dying.
- To support service uses with specialist needs i.e., stoma/catheter support.
- To help in the promotion of mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing of clients.
- To make and change beds; tidy rooms; do light cleaning and empty commodes if need arises.
- Take part in training activities as directed
- To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.
- To comply with the agency’s guidelines and policies at all times.
- To report to the Registered Manager any significant changes in the health, wellbeing, or circumstances of a client.
Job Requirements:
- NVQ Level 3 in Care or relevant equivalent experience and willing to undertake training
- Able to understand and be sensitive and sympathetic to needs of the client groups
- Positive attitude, Enthusiastic, Self-motivated
- Able to demonstrate a commitment to continual personal & professional development and show willingness to undergo training as may be required
- Able to work flexibility for 40 hours per week within Monday to Sunday 24hrs
- Enhanced DBS disclosure
- Full Driving licence and access to transport with Tax. MOT and Insurance for business use
- Use of a fully working and maintained mobile smart phone
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience of providing care and support to clients
- Active team player but also able to work on own initiative.
- Knowledge and understanding of external partner agencies.
- Well organised.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- I.T. Literate.
- Ability to work under pressure on own initiative or as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively, one to one, and in groups, in a wide range of contexts.
- Knowledge of Care & support in lone working capacity.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to organise and produce written information clearly and concisely to tight deadlines.

- Staff must ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities under the health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Be aware of and promote best practice to ensure compliance with Health and Social care act 2008. KLOE /CQC awareness.
